Portillo

Overview

Set high in the Andes right on the border with Argentina, Portillo is an icon of the ski world. Originally built around a historic trans-Andean railway station, its famous yellow lodge now sits isolated on the shores of the stunning Laguna del Inca. Because the resort strictly limits capacity to just 450 guests per week, you are guaranteed the ultimate luxury: zero lift lines and the feeling of skiing a massive mountain almost entirely by yourself.

Terrain & Amenities

• The Terrain: Famous for its steep chutes, long uninterrupted fall-lines, and unique «va-et-vient» lifts (designed to access high-alpine bowls without towers), Portillo is a freerider’s dream. However, because of the strict guest limit, even the immaculate groomed slopes remain wide open and completely uncrowded all day long.

• Amenities: The resort functions like an exclusive cruise ship in the snow. Amenities are world-class and deeply traditional, featuring a large outdoor heated pool and hot tubs overlooking the frozen lake, an indoor sports court, a cinema, and four daily meals—including their legendary afternoon tea where guests mingle after skiing.
