Baguales – Catskiing
Overview
Operating within a colossal, privately owned 34,000-acre reserve, Baguales is Argentina’s premier backcountry snowcat operation. It is a strictly controlled, highly exclusive sanctuary designed for advanced riders looking to escape the crowds of traditional resorts and log massive vertical descents in pristine, untouched Patagonian powder.
Hotels
Because Baguales is a self-contained wilderness operation, guests stay on-site to maximize their time in the snow:
• La Mesada Lodge: The operational heart of the reserve, located at 1,700m (5,577 ft). This upscale, cozy mountain refuge offers large double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a lively communal lounge with a roaring fire, and gourmet, hearty Patagonian cuisine prepared daily by the in-house chef.

Terrain & Amenities
• The Terrain:
Baguales operates entirely off the grid, serviced by two high-performance PistenBully snowcats. With capacity strictly limited to just 24 guests per day (12 per cat), the terrain remains completely untracked. The operation accesses massive alpine faces, steep technical chutes, and perfectly gladed tree runs. With expert IFMGA-certified guides leading the way, guests can expect to conquer huge vertical drops in some of the driest snow the region has to offer.
• Amenities:The focus here is on the pure mountain experience rather than commercial luxury. However, the operation does not sacrifice comfort. The off-grid lodge provides a warm, highly sophisticated refuge featuring open fireplaces, heavy Patagonian textiles, local craft beers, and exceptional Argentine wines to celebrate a massive day in the backcountry.
