Las Leñas
Overview
Tucked deep in the heart of the Mendoza province, Las Leñas is legendary among international big-mountain skiers. Completely above the treeline, this purpose-built alpine village is renowned for its steep pitches, dramatic Andean peaks, and an exceptionally dry snowpack courtesy of its high base elevation. It is a mandatory pilgrimage for those seeking lift-accessed extreme terrain in the Southern Hemisphere.

All accommodations are clustered at the base, offering varying degrees of slope access:

Terrain & Amenities
• The Terrain: The mountain’s reputation is built around one iconic lift: the Marte chair. This lift unlocks a massive, high-alpine playground of steep couloirs, endless open bowls, and technical cliff drops that rival the best off-piste sectors in the world. While the lower mountain offers excellent, wide-open groomers for carving, the true soul of Las Leñas lies in the expansive, unpatrolled backcountry access that drops straight back to the village.
• Amenities: The resort functions as an isolated, self-contained alpine village. Once you are there, you don’t need a car. The base area features a commercial center, equipment rentals, several restaurants ranging from classic Argentine steakhouses to casual pubs, and a surprisingly vibrant, late-night après-ski scene. There is also a casino located in the main hotel for evening entertainment.
